being a mother can feel…complicated.
Incandescent joy. crushing isolation. wonder at the little beings. be everything to everyone. (enough pressure to create a diamond.)
oh, and make it look easy.
it isn’t what i expected either.
I’m kristina, founder of Compassionote
And I’ve been there. In the darkest nights of breastfeeding a tiny baby. In the long afternoon hours that somehow feels like it takes a decade to pass. In the moments of awe at their persistence and bravery.
We go through unbelievable changes becoming mothers: physiological, psychological, hormonal…it can feel like a completely bewildering transformation. It can be really really hard. And I believe that even if we can’t change the hard parts of being a mother, we can try to change the feeling of being alone in it.
I want to create something new: a way to communicate that supports the relationships we have; to nurture new relationships with other mothers who are on the same path. A way to learn the best tools that science has to teach about self-compassion and vulnerability, and to pass on our hard earned wisdom to the next generation of mothers.
All grounded in compassion and kindness.
I hope that you will join me.
Love, K
so, What’s the plan?
We are thinking big: in person and digital. Local and global. Nurturing and connective.
But, we are taking it slow. We want to build this with intention. And that takes time.
We are gathering stories and experiences, asking questions and looking for insight from mothers to inform the vision.
We will build the product to achieve that vision.
We will distribute it as wide and far as we can because every mother deserves to be supported and heard.
